Dolce Strings and Company
Sweet music for weddings and special occasions
Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you play at outdoor venues?
Yes we do.  However, overhead protection (tent or gazebo) is required to prevent damage to our instruments. Our string instruments are our most valued possessions.  We cannot play in direct sunlight, rain or mist.  We will not perform outside under extreme weather conditions (under 60 or over 95 degrees F, severe rain or thunderstorm, etc.) Therefore, you need to have an alternative site if inclement weather occurs.

2. Is a deposit required to secure the date by signing a contract?
Yes.  We require a 50% deposit when you sign the contract.  We begin working on the music immediately and are rehearsing for your wedding.

3. How do I go about the booking process?
Call Carol and check availability of the date and musicians. Meet with Carol for a consultation to work out details and then secure the date by signing a contract and making the 50% deposit which goes towards you total fee.  The balance is due one week prior to the ceremony.
Checks are made payable to Carol Clem.

4. Do you play at rehearsal dinners or during the wedding reception and dinner hour?
Yes, please talk with Carol.

5. I need an accompanist for my vocalist.  Do you provide this service?
Our groups do not accompany vocalist.  We do have piano, keyboard and guitar musicians that will help you with that.  There is a fee of $30 per hour for rehearsal.

6. Do you come to rehearsal?
Not usually.  You can have Carol come if that would make you feel more secure but she does visit the site before hand and will talk with the wedding coordinator and go through details.  We can provide you with a rehearsal cd so your wedding party will become familiar with the music as they rehearse.  Many brides have told us how helpful this was at their rehearsal.
If you still feel you would like us to attend the rehearsal we will, provided we know in advance. There is an additional fee for attending the rehearsal.

7.  What is your dress attire?
We wear the traditional formal concert black or black and white unless you specify something else. Please make your wishes known to us.

8.  Do I need to provide stands, chairs, etc?
We provide our own stands and chairs.  If we need lighting or amplification an electrical outlet should be accessible.  We need an adequate space to play usually 8'X 8'.
